Hypnotherapy For Smoking
If you’re ready to finally give up smoking for good, good for you! You’ve come to the right place. Whether this is your first time trying to kick the habit or your twentieth, it’s important to never admit defeat. Your health is too important an asset to jeopardise by continuing to smoke. Many people have found enormous success using hypnotherapy for smoking cessation.
The trained psychotherapists at Bayside Psychotherapy in Melbourne may be able to help you achieve your goal of stopping smoking. Addiction counselling can potentially give you tools to tackle issues that may be underlying your smoking habit – either via a face-to-face meeting at our clinic, or in secure online sessions.
What Are the Side Effects of Smoking?
Smoking causes many harmful health conditions such as heart disease and cancer, to name a few. Smoking also raises the risk for tuberculosis and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.
The tar in cigarettes can cause lung and throat cancer. At the same time, the carbon monoxide in cigarettes also reduces the body’s ability to carry oxygen to the muscles, brain and blood, damaging major organs.
The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) framework convention on tobacco control states, “There is conclusive evidence that sustained smoking/using tobacco products can cause cancers at various sites in the human body, particularly cancer of the lung.”
In Australia, tobacco use is responsible for approximately 15,000 deaths each year. In 2004–2005 about three-quarters of a million hospital bed-days were a result of tobacco use. (Collins & Lapsley, 2008).
Am I Affecting My Family and Friends With My Smoking?
Smoking affects everyone, not just the smoker. Children and family are significant factors in why people quit. A survey found that 98% of kids wanted their parents to stop smoking, and nearly half of those kids said their parent’s smoking made them feel sick. If you smoke near your little ones, there’s a potential that their health could be at risk from second-hand smoke.
Smoking can also affect the wallet, which can cause arguments with partners. And let’s not forget the pungent smell that can put your friends and co-workers off. Put your family and friends first by getting help to possibly kick the habit for good.
