More about Bernadette
I’m Bernadette Cameron, a clinical hypnotherapist, counsellor and life coach with more than five years of accredited experience. I work with individuals, couples, young adults and corporate clients facing fears, trauma, burnout, relationship problems and big life choices.
Before joining Bayside Psychotherapy in Highett, I worked in private practice and community settings across New South Wales and Victoria. After several rewarding years in Northern NSW, I’ve returned home to Melbourne.
Alongside my therapy work, I draw on professional speaker training to help corporate clients with confidence, public speaking and goal-setting.
I believe good therapy begins with a compassionate ear. I aim to give you a confidential place where you feel heard and supported. I take a client-centred approach, drawing on clinical hypnotherapy, Resource (Parts) Therapy, NLP, Compassionate Inquiry, mindfulness and life coaching, and I shape each session around the individual or couple in front of me.
My approach is flexible, respectful and collaborative. Whether you want relief from anxiety, grief, fear, trauma, relationship stress or workplace pressure, we work on reconnecting with your inner strengths and building emotional resilience.

How I can help you:
I combine several approaches and choose between them to suit your needs.
Clinical hypnotherapy quietens the busy, critical mind so we can work with the subconscious, where long-held beliefs, emotions and habits sit. People often come to it for anxiety, fears, stress, confidence and motivation.
Couples counselling gives partners a place to work on communication, conflict and their connection.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) focuses on the connection between language, thought, and behaviour. It can help you recognise and reframe limiting patterns, so you can try new ways of thinking, feeling and responding.
Resource (Parts) Therapy works with the different parts of your inner world, including those in conflict or holding on to pain, to build understanding between them. It is a gentle way to work with past experiences.
Mindfulness brings you back into the present moment, helping you to manage difficult emotions, reduce stress, and develop a calmer, more centred relationship with yourself and others.
Compassionate Inquiry looks at the emotional patterns and protective habits formed in early life, and encourages self-awareness and self-compassion.
Why work with me:
Choosing the right therapist is a deeply personal decision. I bring warmth and gentle honesty to our sessions, and aim to create a space where real change feels possible. Here’s what you can expect when working with me:
- A confidential place where you can speak freely and feel heard.
- A compassionate, grounded approach that draws on professional skill and lived experience.
- Experience with individuals, couples, and corporate clients, helping people navigate anxiety, fear, trauma, grief, burnout, and relationship challenges.
- A flexible, integrative toolbox that draws on Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP, Resource (Parts) Therapy, Mindfulness, and Compassionate Inquiry.
- Practical tools for everyday life, designed to help you manage stress, build resilience, and strengthen your emotional wellbeing.
- A collaborative process where we work at your pace towards greater self-understanding and healing.
- A commitment to ongoing learning so my practice stays current.
- Corporate and performance coaching experience, including public speaking, confidence and goal-setting.
My goal is to support you in reconnecting with your own strengths and creating a life that feels calm, connected, and meaningful.
Understanding your needs:
If you’re curious about why you respond to life the way you do, and why certain fears, habits or emotional patterns keep repeating, we can explore that together. I combine gentle exploration with practical tools from clinical hypnotherapy, NLP, Resource (Parts) Therapy, mindfulness and Compassionate Inquiry.
Therapy is a process that takes time. Together we look beneath the surface for the beliefs and emotions that drive your thoughts and behaviour. As your understanding grows, you have more room to respond differently.
Feeling supported and understood in our sessions gives that work room to happen.
