Bernadette Cameron

Hypnotherapist, Counsellor, NLP Master Practitioner

“Rumi asked, ‘Why do you stay in prison when the door is wide open?’ I believe therapy helps us notice that open door, the moment we realise healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new, but coming home to who we already are. Through calm presence, curiosity, and compassionate guidance, I help clients rediscover their own strength, light, and freedom.”

About Me

I’m Bernadette Cameron, a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Counsellor and Life Coach with more than five years of accredited experience supporting individuals, couples, young adults and corporate clients to face fears, heal from trauma, manage burnout, and build more fulfilling relationships and life choices.

Before joining Bayside Psychotherapy in Highett, Melbourne, I worked in both private practice and community settings across New South Wales and Victoria, developing a compassionate and practical approach grounded in evidence-based methods and genuine human understanding.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I also draw on professional speaker training to help corporate clients improve confidence, public speaking, and goal-setting skills.

After several rewarding years of practice in Northern NSW, I’ve now returned home to Melbourne, continuing my mission to help people feel calmer, more connected and empowered, both personally and professionally.

I believe good therapy begins with a compassionate ear. My role is to create a safe, confidential space where clients feel deeply heard and supported throughout their healing journey. I take a client-centred approach, drawing on an integrated toolkit of Clinical Hypnotherapy, Resource (Parts) Therapy, NLP, Compassionate Inquiry, Mindfulness, and Life Coaching to tailor each session to the unique needs of the individual or couple.

My approach is flexible, respectful and collaborative. Whether you’re seeking relief from anxiety, grief, fear, trauma, relationship stress or workplace pressure, my goal is to help you reconnect with your inner strengths, build emotional resilience and create lasting, positive change.

I use an integrated approach to therapy, drawing on several evidence-based and experiential modalities to meet your specific needs. Each has its own strengths, and together they provide a flexible, effective framework for change.

Clinical Hypnotherapy helps quiet the busy, critical mind so we can work directly with the subconscious, where long-held beliefs, emotions, and habits are stored. This can be especially effective for reducing anxiety, fears, and stress, and for building confidence and motivation.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) focuses on the connection between language, thought, and behaviour. It can help you recognise and reframe limiting patterns, so you can think, feel, and respond in more empowering ways.

Resource (Parts) Therapy works with the different parts of your inner world—those aspects that may be in conflict or holding on to pain—to create understanding and harmony. It’s a gentle yet powerful way to integrate and heal past experiences.

Mindfulness brings you back into the present moment, helping you to manage difficult emotions, reduce stress, and develop a calmer, more centred relationship with yourself and others.

Compassionate Inquiry helps uncover and release the deeper emotional patterns and protective mechanisms formed in early life. It encourages greater self-awareness and compassion, allowing for lasting emotional change.

Together, these approaches create a personalised therapeutic experience designed to help you feel heard, supported, and equipped to move forward with confidence and clarity.

Why Work With Me?

Choosing the right therapist is a deeply personal decision. Clients often tell me they value my warmth, gentle honesty, and ability to create a space where real change feels possible. Here’s what you can expect when working with me:

  • A safe, confidential space where you can express yourself freely and feel genuinely heard.
  • A compassionate and grounded approach—I bring both professional skill and lived experience to every session.
  • Experience with individuals, couples, and corporate clients, helping people navigate anxiety, fear, trauma, grief, burnout, and relationship challenges.
  • A flexible, integrative toolbox that draws on Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP, Resource (Parts) Therapy, Mindfulness, and Compassionate Inquiry.
  • Practical tools for everyday life, designed to help you manage stress, build resilience, and strengthen your emotional wellbeing.
  • A collaborative process, where we work together at your pace toward greater self-understanding, healing, and empowerment.
  • A professional commitment to ongoing learning, drawing inspiration from leaders in the field to ensure my practice stays current and effective.
  • Corporate and performance coaching expertise, including help with public speaking, confidence-building, and goal-setting.

My goal is to support you in reconnecting with your own strengths and creating a life that feels calm, connected, and meaningful.

Understanding Your Needs

If you’re curious about why you respond to life the way you do—why certain fears, habits, or emotional patterns seem to repeat—our work together can help you find clarity and relief. My approach combines gentle exploration with practical tools drawn from Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP, Resource (Parts) Therapy, Mindfulness, and Compassionate Inquiry to create meaningful, lasting change.

Therapy is a process, not a quick fix. Together, we’ll look beneath the surface of your experiences to uncover the beliefs and emotions that drive your thoughts and behaviours. As understanding grows, so too does your ability to respond differently—to feel calmer, stronger, and more in control of your choices and relationships.

While symptom relief often happens along the way, the real transformation comes from developing a deeper connection with yourself. When you feel safe, supported, and truly understood, change can unfold naturally.

Getting started

I offer sessions Tuesdays from 1pm–7pm, both face-to-face and online.

Choose online or face-to-face, and select Bernadette as your preferred therapist when you book online.
