Overcome Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Some joke about obsessive compulsive disorder but to the person who lives with OCD, it’s really not a laughing matter at all.  OCD can rule your life and rob you of joy, happiness, and peace of mind.  But, I can help you overcome obsessive compulsive disorder and take back the control in your life.

Contact meAdam Szmerling. Obsessive compulsive disorder, also known as OCD, can be overcome with the help of a trained psychotherapist. My skills, tools, and resources can help you overcome your addictions and your compulsions. Working together with me will provide access to several treatment methods, such as: NLP, hypnotherapy, Buddhist psychotherapy, dream interpretation, group therapy, mindfulness therapy, and more. I offer in house appointments at the Bayside Clinic or am happy to meet with you virtually via online counselling.

It’s time to stop your OCD from dictating your every move in life!

Let’s work together to help you stop intrusive thoughts

There are some symptoms to be aware of if you are not sure if your situation is OCD. Symptoms of OCD include:

• Unwanted and intrusive thoughts.
• Feeling compelled to perform repeated rituals (such as hand washing or checking rooms for something or for the absence of something).
• Being obsessed about germs.
• Feeling the overwhelming need to check and re-check things and / or count things.

The above is not an exhaustive list but gives you an idea of some common symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder. Whether it’s washing your hands until they’re raw, hoarding items, checking and re-checking things before you go to bed, or some other ritualistic behaviour that you can’t seem to control, there is help available.

There are cognitive therapies and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) options for treatment that can help you change these patterns. Whether OCD has occurred as a result of post-traumatic stress or another reason, it doesn’t have to continue to impact your life.

How long will obsessive compulsive disorder treatment take?

There is no way to estimate how long treatment for OCD will take. Treatment methods vary based on the individual and while results, for many, are quickly seen, everyone is different.  The Bayside Clinic is different.

How is Bayside’s treatment different?

I choose to meet with you (either online or in the office) to ascertain your wants, your needs, and an appropriate course of treatment. I do not use a “canned” approach. My training and education have given me a wide breadth of knowledge in many treatment options including NLP and hypnotherapy as well as other wellbeing services  and this puts me in a unique position to provide true tailored therapy. I tailor your counselling to your situation and after several sessions will review whether or not that treatment is working. If it isn’t, we can adjust based on your wants, needs, and goals.

Make your appointment as soon as possible and take your life back. That life should be free of the binding chains that compulsions create. Call 9530 6353 for an appointment in the Bayside Melbourne office or, arrange a meeting with me for online counselling via Skype.  You may also choose to download a recommended overcome obsessive checking or stop intrusive thoughts recording as well.
