How addictions can show up

Addiction can be subtle at first. Over time it can begin to affect sleep, relationships, work, mood and self esteem. Common signs include:

How therapy may help

While some individuals require a more structured inpatient admission, therapy can provide, where appropriate structure and care while you rebuild control. We aim to help you to:

  • Map triggers, urges and underlying emotions

  • Build skills to ride out cravings

  • Replace short term relief with healthier coping

  • Address shame and self criticism that keep the cycle going

  • Strengthen motivation, values and boundaries

  • Repair the parts of life the addiction has crowded out

  • Delve deeper with psychotherapy to unearth the root causes of your cravings

Frequently asked questions

Is abstinence the only goal?
Not always. Some people choose abstinence. Others work toward safer limits. We will discuss options and decide together.

What if I have tried to stop before and it did not last?
Relapse is common. Therapy helps you learn from what happened, adjust your plan and keep going without harsh self judgement. Sometimes rehab is indicated.

Can therapy help if my partner or family is affected?
Yes. We can include partners or offer couples counselling where appropriate, and help you set clear, kind boundaries.

Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. Many clients find online sessions convenient and effective.
